You're not really supposed to max it before finishing eldritch, requiring you to finish eldritch and play A LOT of it to earn all inventions and maximize them. Personally, I went for the shuffle first then the extra starting perk (most expensive invention by far), a few teleports, and tried to get extra perks at the beggining, ignoring everything else.
